Seasons Retirement Communities
Think of Us as Home
Located in the Riverside area, in a quiet, mature area of town, Seasons Ponoka Retirement Community is a retirement home that offers beautiful views of its tranquil setting. The residence offers Supportive Living, Independent Supportive Living and Designated Supportive Living through Alberta Health Services; this includes independent apartments with full kitchens to suites where residents enjoy our dining and housekeeping services.
Seasons takes pride in taking the time to learn who our residents are as individuals, understand what is most important to them and then do whatever we can in each interaction to exceed expectations, creating “Wow Moments” that truly matter. It could mean acknowledging a special anniversary, preparing a residents morning coffee just the way that they like it without having to ask, or incorporating a resident’s favourite activity in the monthly activity calendar. Through this effort, we know how important it is to make someone feel cared for, valued and like they are at home.
Seasons Ponoka and its Team Members place importance on supporting events and programs in the local community. For example, in July, Seasons Ponoka donated $2,000 along with a large amount of canned goods through the home’s One ‘Can’ Make a Difference Food-Drive Challenge to the Ponoka Food Bank. In 2019, the home also hosted a Ponoka Stampede Pancake Breakfast to raise additional monetary donations. The reasoning behind these initiatives stemming from a recent finding from the Daily Bread Food Bank Report which tells us that more seniors are accessing food banks than in previous years and many are single-person households in the outer reaches of cities; the small towns in which Seasons Retirement Communities choose to build.
Furthermore, Seasons is home to many heros. Another important cause that Seasons Ponoka supports is the local Royal Canadian Legion in November. During this time, the home takes the opportunity to recognize and thank our veterans who fought for our freedom by collecting pocket change for donation and planting a visual display of paper poppies in the gardens through the Pennies for Poppies program. These ‘planted’ poppies serve as a promise to never forget.
Finally, all 20 Seasons Retirement Communities across both Ontario and Alberta have participated in charitable outings and events that are chosen and deemed important by the community’s residents through our Seniorosity® program. Visiting local fire stations, surprising neighbours with homemade cookies, and donating items to pet shelters are among the highlights. Residents at Seasons Ponoka continue to add value to local charity groups and organizations with their wealth of knowledge and life experience.
